Yokohama Cosplay Event
23 April, 2010 by Sho
Not too long ago, I chanced upon a cosplay event at Yokohama. I’ve previously wrote about that Sunday’s experience in this other post but tonight’s post features more photos of the cosplay event.
The cosplayers in Yokohama clearly followed their craft passionately. Those who came as their favorite character knew all the trademark poses of the character. I spotted some iconic classics, as well as popular modern characters. Unfortunately, I’m not too learned when it comes to anime and I seem to have misplaced the name cards of the cosplayers (which would had made the task of identifying them a whole lot easier). For reference, I’ve labeled those that I did managed to identify.
Kuroto and Ai’s Cure profiles can be found here and here respectively.
Ren’s profile can be found here. Hana’s here.
As the birthplace of the cosplay subculture, the overall standard of cosplay in Japan is rather high. Even though the event was an informal practice for an even bigger cosplay event in May, cosplayers turned up in bulk. As a result, I only managed to capture only a fraction of the total participants during the short time I was there.
Let me know if you are able to identify any of the unknown characters. I’ll update their names when that happens.
Edit: I’ve added in links to the cosplayers’ profiles.
