We moved!09 September, 2010 by Chad
With the site’s rapidly increasing viewership and our ever growing heap of uploaded photos, it was fast becoming obvious that our previous hosting plan was just not going to cut it. At the advice of an old friend, we recently shifted the site over to Singapore’s largest web host, Vodien Internet Solutions.
While MJ and I was busy crazing over Morning Musume at our old workplace back in 2007, Lester spent his free time tinkering with WordPress plug-ins. Take note that this was before anyone even knew what WordPress was, so it’s no surprise that as one of the pioneers of WordPress, he now has one of the most visited sites in the world. For him to rely on Vodien, it’s got to be a pretty decent hosting service no?
Turns out that many government entities and high traffic local sites are all hosted on Vodien’s servers. Singapore’s most famous blogger even. So I’ve decided to give the service a try.
It was great that they provided a full site transfer with their hosting service. Their friendly staff told me that all I had to do was to e-mail them the plan needed and attach the registration info from our previous hosting service. Only when our site was working perfectly on the new server did the request any payment.
Our previous hosting plan still had months to go, so it was such a waste to have to change servers midway. Amazingly, Vodien actually helps settle the difference of the months lost through a rebate (well some of it anyway). They also helped transfer the domain over to their service at no extra cost and offered to renew it yearly for free as long as we retain our subscription.
If you’re in need of a host to start your own blog or what not, you can find Vodien Internet Solutions’s site here. The plans are the cheapest, for the amount of bandwidth and space given and we’ve haven’t had any trouble thus far. It seems that this site’s photo heavy posts have been loading faster than usual.
The link above is tied to our account so we’ll be getting a small token sum that will hopefully help offset some of the site’s hosting (at the off chance that someone actually subscribes).
