Tokyo Banana Pie
The lesser counterpart to Tokyo Banana 05 May, 2010 by Yan
In addition to Tokyo Banana, I am also including one of the other various sister products from the same company, the Tokyo Banana Pie (東京ばな奈 パイ). Though mostly out-shadowed by the original Tokyo Banana, sales for the Tokyo Banana Pie still stand relatively well on its own and is often on the top 10 list of snacks bought as souvenirs. From my point of view, it would seem that the Tokyo Banana helped pushed the sales of its various other sister products, even though the other various product might not be as great as the original. For those interested to check out the whole list of Tokyo Banana products, here’s a link to the official website of Tokyo Banana.
As mentioned previously, I managed to acquire a box of Tokyo Banana and Tokyo Banana Pie from Sho’s vacation trip. Having tasted most of the Tokyo Banana products that they have to offer, I would say that Tokyo Banana Pie lower on my list.
Pictures and reviews below.

The only reason why Tokyo Banana Pie is superior to Tokyo Banana is the expiry date. It can last for about a month.
The reason why Tokyo Banana Pie scores low in my list, is the fact that it tastes like a relatively mild flavored banana biscuit. The flavor is so mild that I can barely taste any banana flavor in the pie, though you are able to sniff out the banana fragrance. I guess, the reason for its long shelf life is also the cause of its weakness in taste. The Tokyo Banana Pie is rather dry, it goes well with coffee but it will need more help on its own.
Do make it a point to purchase at least a box of Tokyo Banana if you are visiting Japan.
Addicted to film, Yan shoots with a black Nikon Fm3a. For special occasions, Yan shoots with a Mamiya Sekor TLR.
