Quiet pizza ristorante at Raffles City10 April, 2011 by Chad
The Pizza Place is a pizza restaurant that has been around in Singapore for quite a while. I remember visiting the place years ago for a try and had a favorable experience back then. One evening a couple months ago, I happened to be in the vicinity with sizable company and decided to give the place another try. The now quiet business, made it a prime spot for us to hang around for some idle banter.
The place used to be quite a popular years ago but it is difficult to stay competitive in Singapore where new diners pop up weekly. It was the busy dinner hour and all the adjacent shops were packed but we were among the only customers here tonight.
With so many other heartland options, I guess pizza is not exactly something you’d go out of the way to eat. But The Pizza Place does have a delivery service too. It seems the prices for both dine in and delivery have been brought down at some point to remain compelling.
Now Peperoni Pizzeria at Hillcrest probably serves the best pizza available in Singapore but getting there is quite the challenge. On the other hand when you couldn’t care any less, junk food like Canadian Pizza or even Pizza Hut would suffice. But the Pizza Place falls somewhere between all the other pizza restaurants, which means it doesn’t quite fill any specific niche.
Servings at The Pizza Place are appropriate for their cost and so is the quality of pizza. It does a decent job of filling any pizza craving but more importantly (at least for this night) was the fact that we could find a quiet, comfortable place to chill at in this otherwise crowded central area.
