SUMMER SONG

As far as I know, YUI mentioned in an interview that this new single, Summer Song is actually a song she made 3 years ago. She decided the hold the release of the song, feeling that it wasn’t the right time. Until now. Released on June 2th, which also happens to be the start of Japan’s summer season, Summer Song is a great season theme song by YUI.

Summer Song also happens to be a continuation of the song “Laugh Away” from YUI’s 3rd Album. You will understand why I call it a continuation if you manage to see both PVs of Laugh Away and Summer Song. The same cast and similar mood is used in both videos. “Laugh Away” shows the story from the feelings of the boy, while “Summer Song” displays the girl’s point of view. Hence, both PVs can be combined to form a plot.

Conveniently added into the Summer Song single is also the acoustic version of “Laugh Away”. It’s a trait unique to YUI’s singles. Since her first release, YUI has thrown in an extra acoustic song (usually of the previous single) in each single. It’s something I look forward to in each single.

Included with the CD + DVD version of Summer Song, was a July~August calendar Obi (wrapper) and an autograph of YUI. As a result, sales for the Limited Summer Song CD + DVD skyrocketed. I was rather frustrated that I missed the pre-order of the Limited CD + DVD and ended up having to paying twice the amount in an auction.
