For the first time Sony has decided to slash prices of its PlayStation Vita systems in Japan. Since its launch in December 2011, the Vita has seen poor public reception. Sony hopes to urge along sales with this dramatic price reduction. Starting February 28th, both the Vita’s 3G/Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi only versions will retail at just 19,980 yen (approximately SGD$260), down from 29,980 and 24,980 yen respectively.

Sony has also took this opportunity to re-announce the upcoming release of many high profile titles on the Vita including the mass multi-player online game Phantasy Star Online 2 which will be begin service on the same day as the price cut, and the eagerly awaited Soul Sacrifice on 7th March.
