Singapore’s pre-eminent comic festival returns for its 6th consecutive year22 June, 2013 by Chad
The dates for this year’s Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention have been announced. The convention will make its return to the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Center on 31st August 2013. Fans of comics and pop culture from around the world will definitely want to keep their calendars marked.
STGCC has been consistently one of the most enjoyable events in Singapore each year. So far, the event has done a nice job in bringing over a variety of guests from the various prominent industries. Allowing literally everyone to interact with them directly through art and autograph sessions is a nice personal touch, and well worth the token entry fee, especially for comic and toy fans. At the same time, these sharing sessions have been a pivotal form of feedback for the artists and creators, helping them to grow and improve their work.
It’s still a little early so only a preliminary list of guests have been announced, but we have no doubt that more exciting ones will be featured soon enough. It looks like this years guests will once again come from a variety of disciplines, continuing the tradition of providing something for everybody at STGCC.
Comic guests already confirmed for STGCC 2013 include: Adi Granov, the conceptual designer and illustrator for the Iron Man and the Avengers films and artist of the highly popular Iron Man: Extremis series. David Mack, artist/writer for a number of Daredevil comics and his own Kabuki series of comics.
From Japan, we have artist Redjuice, anime music producer kz (a.k.a. livetune) and the DEVILROBOTS crew also make their return.
Finally, on the cosplay side of things, popular US cosplayer Linda Le, better known as Vampy, will be making her visit to Singapore.
Stay tuned for more updates.
