Singapore’s East-meets-West pop culture exhibition to return again04 June, 2012 by Chad
The annual Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) will be arriving again soon this year. Look forward again to Singapore’s one of a kind East-meets-West pop culture exhibition, which will be shifted to take place at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center this year. Comic and toy enthusiasts will want to mark their calenders for Saturday and Sunday, 1st and 2nd September 2012.
Advanced tickets for STGCC 2012 are available online right now direct through the official website. Tickets cost SGD$15 for a one-day pass and $25 for a two-day variant.
A two day VIP ticket is available for $50, limited to 200, includes priority seating and fast pass access to the events. There is also a tie in with regular guest tokidoki, which gives you a t-shirt, 1 day ticket and tokidoki toy for the first 200 tickets for $50 too.
Last week, a number of preliminary guests for STGCC 2012 were announced. For starters, Vocaloid DJ group ZANEEDS and the already familiar pop vector artist Simone Legno of tokidoki fame will be making their return. As will Tadaaki “Jacky” Dosai, chief editor of COSMODE magazine, no doubt to oversee this year’s cosplay activities.
On the comic side of things, Marvel artist Mark Brooks and Philippines own Mark Torres have been confirmed so far.
The rest of the new names announced come from a global pool of talents. There’s Mark Nagata, who has designed the covers of many of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps series of children’s novels, urban artist Tristan Eaton and the Beast Brothers, the two Mexico born twins have an impressive portfolio with many big names thanks to their illustration and sculpturing prowess.
Once again, visitors will be able to get up close and personal with the guests through autograph and forum sessions held throughout the two days.
Expect many more names to be announced in the coming months as more creators, artists and exhibitors are confirmed for the convention. The organizers have also hinted at some popular Japanese cosplayers that will be coming down for this year’s Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention.
