Gummy filled yoghurt taffy22 October, 2010 by Chad
Anyone remember the wacky AKB48 x Puccho promotion from a couple months back? For those that don’t, Puccho is a line of taffy like candy similar to Morinaga’s Hi-chew candies. Hi-chew is much more popular over here and almost all supermarkets carry it instead, so I was quite surprised when I found Puccho for sale just downstairs.
These were all the flavors available for sale here. You can get the bottled Ramune gum drops at other local stores but only Prime Supermarkets carry the stick kinds which are eligible for the Request Hour Set List Best 100 contest. They cost $1.80 each.
Puccho’s cute packaging hopes to bring some joy, with all the happy faces printed on it. The foil in which individual pieces were wrapped in had random unique designs printed on them. They feature the mascot in various amusing situations.
Interestingly, the syrup inside hardens into sort of a gummy. When it is squeezed out of the soft candy, the little bits start floating in your mouth adding an additional texture to the mix. Surprisingly, real juice concentrate is used. However most of the flavor was overshadowed by the obsessively sweet taffy coating.
Just in case anyone is wondering, Miracle flavor is just a mix of Grape, Orange and Soda.
