PricePanda
Find the best prices for electronics in Singapore and Malaysia
20 October, 2012 by Chad
After having found success overseas, Rocket Internet has launched PricePanda, their new online price comparison service for Singapore and Malaysia last month. PricePanda hopes to provide a one stop hub for Singaporean (and Malaysian) netizens to compare prices on consumer goods.
Earlier this year, Rocket Internet also launched two other aggregation sites “foodpanda” and “Home24 Singapore”, though absorbtion have been lackluster so far. A personal gripe is that the majority of Singaporeans still live in the last decade, tending to favor message boards and one to one trades over convenience.
One exception has been Zalora, which Rocket Internet launched late last year. Thanks to a comprehensive catalog, affordable prices and free local delivery, Zalora has managed to find success, even in a saturated market where every single fashion conscious young woman seems to run her own blogshop.
So far, PricePanda already has an impressive catalog of electronics on display, but with only one or two retailers on file, it’s a little too early to be anything more useful than a price reference tool.
It’s a smart move on PricePanda to focus on consumer electronics considering how tech hungry Singapore is. And despite success of other tech related fairs and websites here, I find myself often having a hard time searching online for prices of anything that is not related to PCs.
I’m sure many others share this same sentiment and with support, we might see PricePanda grow to a great size. Historically, Rocket Internet has both the resources and experience to make that possible.
