Kisshug

Kisshug, Aiko’s 24th single deserves a special mention. Not so well informed readers may be unaware that as a singer/songwriter, Aiko composes all her own music. In the case of Kisshug, she was requested to produce a theme song specially for the upcoming Hana Yori Dango (花より男子) movie and that was where everything started.

Being a big fan of the manga version of Hana Yori Dango, Aiko happily accepted the challenge. To old fans like myself, Kisshug could seem like not a very Aiko-ish song but it is a refreshing twist with little a hint of Aiko feel goodness in the song. It’s a first attempt of hers to try this kind of music, but I hope it won’t be the last.

A little more information regarding the Hana Yori Dango Final movie. While previously a 2 part drama series performed by the same cast of actors, the directors decided to up the game and bring the conclusion to the big theaters. Though I’m not a huge fan of shojo manga or any shojo manga derived drama/movies, I’ll still definitely give it a try to support Inoue Mao (the main female lead in the series, and one of my personal favorite actress) and Aiko’s contribution to the movie.
