~Members BEST Selection~10 February, 2011 by Yan
Even though this album has been released for a couple months already, I felt the need to introduce what I think was the most worthwhile album purchase of 2010: Ikimono Bakari ~Members Best Selection~.
After a very successful year with their previous 2 albums snagging the #1 spot on the charts, Ikimono Gakari has come up with this “best of” album before announcing a hiatus of about six months or more. Due to their busy and fully booked schedules in the past years, the members are now in need of some rest.
Check out the song list for this 2 CD album that includes a selection of songs that were put together by the group themselves. It includes fan favorites like Sakura and Yell, some lesser-known songs and two rearranged tracks. I’m guessing that the group chose most of their songs by their own personal preference.

The limited edition album comes housed in a special box with a ton of other goodies other than the extra DVD and an application card to enter a lottery for Ikimono Gakari goods, while the first press of the regular edition comes with Ikimono-card 021. There was also a limited run winter sleeve version of the normal album which went on sale between Dec 2010 to Jan 2011.
Extra goodies and card inclusion has been plentiful throughout history. But are at an all round high since (perhaps) AKB48 made it popular in recent years.
The album also had the honor of being certified by the Recording Industry Association of Japan for reaching 1 million copies (shipped). Which was only the second certified million album of 2010, after Arashi’s “Boku no Miteiru Fuukei.”
If it’s your first time hearing this popular J-pop group, I’d recommend that you try out their best selection album to get a feel of Ikimono Gakari’s unique sound. You won’t be disappointed.Click here to search CDJapan for Ikimono Bakari and other related items.
