Candy Candy
More Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

Nakata Yasutaka’s latest avatar Kyary Pamyu Pamyu returns just 3 months since her last release with second single Candy Candy. Scheduled for release next month, the song marks a departure from capsule (and Kyary’s) usual electropop hits with a more mellow tune. Thankfully, the video retains much of the zaniness associated with the Kyary Pamyu Pamyu name.
You can see the full music video below. Unlike many other labels, Warner Music Japan is nice enough to provide it in full on YouTube.
Overall, Candy Candy’s PV feels a lot more disturbing than her previous two. Not one, not two but a total of 4 faceless dancers appear this time. Unlike Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s previous videos which placed her in a rather fantastical setting, Candy Candy happens in a more realistic location.
This is possibly a conscious decision by the director as viewers can immediately pick up on the uncomfortable vibes. The whole video seems to have been heavily influenced by the magical girl concept.
