Black Rock Shooter PILOT Edition
Prequel to the actual OVA 04 August, 2010 by Yan
Just in case any fans have not been following the announcements on the official Black Rock Shooter website, there has been progress on the release date of the Black★Rock Shooter (ブラック★ロックシューター) anime. I’m glad to share with you that the release of Black★Rock Shooter PILOT Edition is due in September 2010 and the Black★Rock Shooter OVA will be arriving December 2010!
While I’m still on the topic, I’ll also share the various information and specifications I know about the 2 different items.
Black★Rock Shooter PILOT edition:
The pilot edition is a sneak preview to the actual OVA that is due for release at the end of this year. They were probably just hoping that hardcore fans might fork out a little bit of extra money to get their hands on every possible merchandise (including this pilot edition DVD) released for Black★Rock Shooter.
The pilot edition DVD will be released with a new CD produced by Ryo (the guy who is responsible for the musical aspects of BRS), ‘Miku Hatsune voice-B’ and will also come with an image board booklet. The CD will be a special edition produced just for the project announcement.
If you can’t wait, here’s a sneak preview on the Black★Rock Shooter PILOT edition.
Black★Rock Shooter OVA Limited edition:
Next I’ll be touching on the hugely anticipated OVA of Black★Rock Shooter. Slated for a December release, the folks behind the anime have decided that they wanted to include both a Blu-ray disc and a DVD into the set (I’m guessing both the Blu-ray disc and the DVD contents are the same).
The Blu-ray edition also has various retaken scenes and a pilot trailer of the BRS Stop Motion, as well as the making of the Stop Motion. It seems that the producers want you to watch Black★Rock Shooter in Blu-ray so you can enjoy the best audio and video quality possible with all the extra tidbits they offered.
Other than the normal edition, there is of course a Limited edition of the Black★Rock Shooter OVA up for grabs. One could get their hands on a Black★Rock Shooter OVA Limited edition for a cool 4200 yen (the normal edition costs 2100 yen). If you need to justify the extra 2100 yen spent towards getting the Limited edition, it comes together with both the Black Rock Shooter and Dead Master Nendoroid petites.

The highlight of getting the Limited edition of the Black★Rock Shooter OVA, Black Rock Shooter and Dead Master Nendoroid petites.
Addicted to film, Yan shoots with a black Nikon Fm3a. For special occasions, Yan shoots with a Mamiya Sekor TLR.
